Miss Bulls Only Rodeo Queen 2011 was born and raised in San Diego. She lives in Santee however; she has been an active member of the Lakeside Equestrian Community for the past ten years. Her mare Bella boards at Risen Son Ranch. She is currently attending Grossmont College where she is getting Associates of Arts Degree. In the fall of 2012, Taylor plans to attend Mesa College as a student in the Veterinarian Technician program where she will become a licensed Vet Tech. Ms. Finney will also seek and complete training to achieve her license to practice as an equine chiropractor. Her long term goal is to start her own business as a mobile vet tech and horse chiropractor.
Taylor has been riding, and working with horses for over ten years. She shows horses in the following disciplines, Western Pleasure, Dressage, English, Sorting Cows, and Gymkhana. Barrel Racing is one of her favorite activities as well as enjoying a long leisurely trail ride with friends. Taylor knows that there is always more to learn. She loves to work with her trainer Lisa Kalbfleisch as an assistant.
Ms. Finney can often be found competing at Tumbleweed in her favorite Gymkhana events or pursuing her love of art through drawing classes at Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges. She has given riding lessons to children and adults, both private and group as a comp riding instructor.
She loves the sport of rodeo not only because of the speed and excitement but because the humans and animals involved in the events are some of the most highly trained and skilled athletes that you will find in any sport; including the Rodeo Clowns whose job is to protect the contestants risking their own safety. It is a community that works together. What Taylor likes the most about rodeo is the strong family roots in this community based, family oriented sport.
Taylor was motivated to run for the title of Miss Bulls Only Rodeo Queen for several reasons; be a positive role model, promote and explain the sport, gain new experiences, and represent the Lakeside Optimist Club and its activities for example Annual Fishing Derby, BBQ, and Spaghetti Dinner. The Optimist Club is dedicated to bringing out the best in the community's youth. All of the Funds raised are donated back to the Youth of Lakeside.
Taylor would like to thank her sponsors Cuddyback Trailers, Cafe 67, Ray Fleury (her Ferrier), The Fergusons (Owners of my Rodeo Horse Max), and her family who have always supported her in all ways to reach her goals and grow as a person. She would also like to thank the Lakeside Optimist Club for giving her the opportunity to be this years Bulls Only Rodeo Queen.
While she has been promoting the Bulls Only Rodeo through participating as a visiting queen to other rodeos she can't wait to stand proud and ride in the opening ceremonies and greet everyone as they come to enjoy the Bulls Only Rodeo XIII on July 15th and 16th 2011 in Lakeside. See you there!
